Workout

How many of these workouts do I have left?

I hear tell we need to finish 20 to complete The Challenge. So I'm close. Ish.

I went biking yesterday. To work (only a mile), but then down to the East Village from Midtown (3 miles). It was physically grueling from all the stop and go, and more dangerous than I'd like thanks to some insane post-work midtown traffic, pedestrians leaping from the curb as they tried to cross against the light (gotta get home!), and pedicabs picking up tourists and scaring the shit out of them by riding directly at me and all other vehicles. Sorry young Italian dudes wearing the jeans with all the zippers! Sorry old Frenchies with the Saks bags!

And then finally home! From the East Village to the Upper West Side (6 miles). And there were a couple of little rides during the day as I went to and from meetings. And because the weather was friggin lovely. (Though not as lovely as today).

I'm not really feeling these SWeAT pairings. I feel like all the riding on messed up bumpy, pot hole-ridden streets worked out my hands. And I did stretch them and stand on them yoga style to get them relaxed from a day of typing. I had bok choy chopped up in my gelatinous Japanese vegetables in cornstarch-based stew over rice. So yeah, delish. But not really inspired. And today? Flax seeds? Really? They make me have ridiculous gas. The kind that can get you yelled at in Target. And I don't know about the forearm thing. I was told today that if I were a guy I'd be working out my hand and forearm most everyday, and a mighty workout it would be. But if that were the case I'd pair it with wine and a smoke, or beer and an ice cream sandwich. Not flax seeds and bok choy.

I love the "if I was a guy" reference.  Reminds me of my boyfriend offering interesting hand workouts for me.  God knows what he will offer for forearms....well, I do know, actually.  Pretty much the same thing as the hand workout.
