Workout
Sept Day 8, Is there a new challenge yet?
I still wanna play even though I "won" something already. I never got my prize...maybe bc the prize is that I continued to workout and even did the next challenge (feats), even though I didn't get to finish...
ANYHOOO....
9am Ran 2.5 miles
10am Yoga @Atmananda, new studio I'm checkin out. Attempting to do the Yoga thing...we'll see how it goes. I really want to work on Yoga headstands since I am much more accustomed to "tri-pod". I just can't seem to find the top of my head with my forearms to the ground...I also can't seem to find that straightness in my spine as easily.
4pm Kettlebells. Seems like now that they added a later class on Tue, less people are coming to the early one? We did snatches again. I was scared to do 2 handed snatches. EEEEKS! I survived -blistered and bruised, as usual. I felt accomplished with my 8kg snatches and viking presses. I don't think I'll ever graduate to the 12kg. I mostly wish we could get a few 10kgs...
5pm Muay Thai. Working with much more experienced girls kicked my ass, but it was fun and a great learning experience.
6pm Arnis. Back to being confused, but I was able to follow along enough to get by.
7:15 Capoeira. I was exhausted but I stuck with it, we learned to do Mei lua de compasso fake and kick the other way...I dunno what its called in Portuguese. I need to go over it bc it was a confusing move. Not many regulars today so I played a lot in the Roda but nothing challenging or out of the ordinary.

turbo tuesdays with emily!! amazing!
so, headstands!!!! i've got pointers!!! let me know...next time we do yoga we'll do this!
for now think about these things:
-fingers INTERLACED. all of them including thumbs...the area on the head that used to be the "soft spot" when you were a kid, that is the spot i usually feel comfortable placing in the hands. cradling...if you will.
-play with elbows in a touch and elbows out a touch...see how that effects your balance fwd and back!
-this is the biggest pointer!!! PUSH DOWN THROUGH the forearms, which will PRESS, OR PLUG THE SHOULDERBLADES BACK DOWN INTO THE SPINE. this will prevent you from collapsing into your head. only 20% of weight or less in head. 80% in arms!!!! i actually can lift my head off ground in headstand. that is how little it is holding up!
-then walk the hips over shoulders. MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU SHOULD that will straighten spine...get on tip toes and start to slooowwwlyyy balance on toes so much that you can't go anywhere but up (like you're going to do a summeralt but instead your core and legs pull you UP)
-knees curl into chest first. play with that. NO jumping up to headstand!!
let me know if that is helpful! :) it's easier to say in person

urban -thanks for the pointers! I know i have to push through the forearms but it has something to do with having my forearms down and putting my head down in between...i feel like my neck/spine is hard to straighten...i dunno, i'd like to work on this with you for sure!
