I Heart These...
Workout
You guessed it, more Pilates
No internet last night, so here's another 2 in 1 post.
Workout
Pilates Mat Certification, Day 3
Interesting fact: The only place that the arm is attached to the skeleton is at the sterno-clavicular joint.
Today was my third day of the certification course. I am reveling in this feeling of being a student again, and spent the morning with my nose in my anatomy book.
Workout
Neuromuscular Re-Patterning
Whew, a lot of workout has happened since my last post. Mostly in a cerebral, think about fitness and exercise sort of way, but the body has been involved as well, so yea, count it!
As a recap from the weekend:
Workout
walk. think. drink.
Today's workout was a recouperative one.
I walked for 45 minutes today with my computer strapped to my back with my shabby, but ergonomically perfect -thus irreplacible computer bag. At the end of my walk, I found myself at Think Coffee and was able to use their wi-fi and blog my workouts (and think. and drink coffee.)
Workout
spread the word, and spread it far
12/2
Purchased the book "Anatomy of Movement" which is the required reading of the Pilates Cert course that starts on Friday.
Workout
Pilates certification.. watch out mats!
In honor of challenges in general and craving the challenge of doing something above and beyond my usual dance/fitness routine, I decided to take my Pilates practice a step further and get certified as a Pilates instructor.
Workout
playing the numbers
so, that big number '1' that stares at me under the title "workouts this month" is starting to get to me. I know I should be punished for tardiness, but that one posting had some good workouts in it. To give myself a little boost and remind myself that this challenge is still attainable, I'm going to consider that first post my 'catch up' post, and this post my 'today's workout' post.
Workout
late on the challenge, but the workout's on time!
Believe me or not, I was thinking the challenge started on Dec 1.
Count it or not, I've been working out anyway.. so here's the recap:
Day 30: check. April: check.
I recovered from a slight lapse in the middle of April and finished up the month with a three hour dance rehearsal that went into the 10th hour.
penultimate day
Day 29:
Another day of unorganized, non-gym workouts.
..Long walk for an hour or so. The last 15 min, at speed-walker speed so my friend could catch her bus. (after which, I sauntered home at tulip-gawking speed)
..Sets of tricep pushups and leg lifts while watching Dollhouse on hulu (can I use THEIR facilities sometime? please?)
..Stretching before bedtime

yess.. I like this one!
My favorite trick of lately has been to stop buying unlimited mta cards. It encourages me to walk everywhere possible. (best with good weather and downtown location).
..if I'm cheap enough to let 2.25 deter me from going down into the subway, you can bet I'm not springing for cabs either

I say it counts!
..partly because I know I'll need it to count, too, before the month is over

Avocado milkshake! Yes! One of my true loves..
I first had it in Bolivia.
We put one avocado (ripe), one bananna (ripe), regular milk and a bit of sugar (or honey).
How does anyone get along without one?
