booooo injuries!
Pulled my right hip flexor 3 weeks ago. Ran on it - a bunch - in the interim; not such a great idea. Finally not I'm running, but am totally hating not being able to run. The elliptical is so much more boring than running on the streets!
Workout
sore. in a good way. really sore.
Getting a good stretch in: good.
Being sore the next day: also good.
Trying to run while being sore from yoga: pathetically hilarious.
Ow. Must do both with more intensity and frequency!

wet, hot DC summer continues
Tonight's Yoga in the Park was amazing. 60 sweaty minutes of outdoor bikram while not one but two classical guitarists (and a violin) played "Umbrella" and other re-imagined tunes. Troy from VIDA was attentive and taught a great class. Perfect night, can't even say more.

drenched
More and more I realize that I am *so* accustomed to being dry. As in not sweaty. Becoming more of a runner - in DC heat - is changing my perception. I realize, with every workout, that my skin is a porus membrane capable of emitting copious amounts of sweat. I become amazed that I get so soaked so fast, and for so long. How I don't dissolve into a puddle of h

Cherry picking: a yogic exercise in stretching and patience
I spent the morining in suburban Maryland picking the sour cherries that just came into season. What a great activity! Cherries are great for your liver, so munching on a few while picking is a great boost. The bunches hiding high among the leaves were great practice for elongating the spine, plus balance while up on my toes.

Exciting Title? How about SWEATY title!
The short run with the Logan Circle Lululemon Running Club was great - albeit HOT! 4.5 miles in 90 degrees F at 6:30pm. Everyone was a sweaty mess! Must bring water next time.

sweat-fest
If only sweating were a measure of effort or calories burned! The HVAC @ the gym is out of whack, so it was hot as Hades. Pro: looser muscles. Con: felt like I was having a heat stroke the whole time. Still managed to get a full set of lifting in (note to guy standing near the squats bar: BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS! Bumping my bar while I'm lifting isn't cool, e

Memorial Day Sweat-fest
Played Frisbee in the 90-degree (F) heat in DC. Surprisingly low humidity (only 39 percent!) but MAN were we all gross! Tons of fun, but we ended up in slow-motion by the time it was over. Too hot to move. Here's to a healthy day to all our service people!

I've never been a good sleeper, mostly in part due to my poor sleep hygiene. This is enough inspiration to get better at it - I don't want to undo or sabotage all my hard work!

I think anything fitness-y, as long as there's some intereste from both parties, is a great idea for a first date! It gives people a chance to show off a little, if they can, and it's a great bonding experience if things are difficult, quirky or go awry.
Dating is obnoxious enough, with its typical interview-style format. Breaking out of that mold so that you do something together and having a little fodder for what to talk about makes the date easier. And yeah - you get some exercise out of it!

HA! Not that it will stop producers from distributing this snake oil, or the public from falling for persuasive marketing, but this certainly makes me feel better.

I think an endorphin-filled birthday is an awesome present to yourself. No need to wrestle with other people's personalities & proclivities. Looks like you had a great one!

This is so exciting! Plus, sweating (copiously!) ends up feeling so good once you've over the "Ew, I'm so sticky and soggy" reaction.

"Park" is a pretty liberal term, I suppose - I go to the free classes put on by lululemon in Dupont Circle on Wednesdays, 6:30pm. The classes are held in the green space surrounding the fountain in the center of the circle. Is the Malcolm X prectice led by anyone, or is it a do-your-own-thing thing?

Not a bad idea - can this also include abstaining from incedentals at work? I'm normally better, but the free bagels this week were enticing and now I feel guilty.
