i forgot how to use social workout
so its been a while. a few months at least....
and 2.0 has changed so i can't figure out how to use it!
guess i'll be dedicating some time to figure it out soon, you know, when walking to the post office isn't the only exercise i get in a day :)
Workout
who knew i like to count things?
Well, we all did, really, if the spreadsheets were any indication.
I was skeptical about 2.0. When I heard "you can count things like calories eaten and calories burned" I cringed. Deep down inside, I thought, Oh NO. I will not be joining that, thankyouverymuch.

thoughts from a physical therapy table
You wrote, we like! -The Eds.
There's something so interesting about the atmosphere in the therapy room. An odd assortment of strangers, all doing similar things, while the staff walks around and talks about soccer & baseball. The staff is super macho combined with really pretty women, and most of the clients are more than twice my age. Yet I'm starting to look forward to it, if only because for 15 of the 45 minutes, I'm just lying on a table with ice on my foot. Or maybe I secretly love ankle weights and squats.
There's so much I've learned about myself from this one silly moment that led to months of pain & recovery. Now I know how to ask for help, how to accept it, how to find my limits, and when to push past them. And when to realize that limits are there for a reason, and sometimes you just need to rest. Without realizing all of this, I wouldn't be able to appreciate all the things other people do for me, when I'm not busy trying to feed them.
log those minutes!
we're almost at the end. i really want to see what's next, if only because it will be new.
log your minutes!
I just did 20 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout

I just did 20 more minutes of Running and Walking!
I just did 10 more minutes of Weightlifting, Circuit Training & CrossFit!
I just did 10 more minutes of Cycling, Spinning, & Rowing!

life in flux
My PT peeps made me do squats today. I had to raise the resistance on the bike, as clearly Oscar (the "assistant") underestimates me. Level 4 for 10 minutes Oscar? Pshaw. I'll take level 8, thankyouverymuch. And count it as a workout, since I'm not capable of much else. 30 squats + balance exercises + bike definitely counts as a workout.

Six Days. And counting.
Then I'll officially be on two feet again.
And I'm posting a workout because I figure with having walked a couple miles in the last two days in Das Boot, I've gotten the equivalent of a Sandycapped workout.
Happy Friday, ya'll.

Workout
i left my house!
Das Boot has returned, El Splinte is gone, the stitches are history.
Still not really walking, although I pushed it and tried to. But I still need the crutches. Made it all of about 6 blocks away from home, and it didn't even involve a doctor visit! It did involve a lot of drinking, which I'm currently recovering from.
That is all.
Happy weekend!

Leigh Evans' Vinyasa
For me, too hard. Or so I thought.
And at the end, I felt great. And tired. And stretched out.
And isn't that what we look for in yoga?

Pilates with Ellen Barret - Thumbs up
A good video, with enough challenge to make it worthwhile.
But I prefer her non-Crunch series (123 Pilates) because it's designed a bit differently, and it doesn't strain my neck as much.
Either way, she's a great instructor. And for videos for tiny living rooms, Charity D is right on with this one.
Can't believe i'm the first to add this!

Review
Oh My! Spa Castle
So this was my first visit to anything called spa, and my review is a bit different from the friend I brought along. In my opinion, this was by far the best way to spend $35 I could imagine. I don't see any reason not to stay for at least 8 hours. "Bade Pool" is my new favorite phrase.
I'm just going to review floor by floor:

I'm proudly a tree hugging hippy, and I still think moobs are gross. Maybe everyone is beautiful on the outside, but I'd rather throw a man bra at them.

I'll bet I sweat more than you. Its a trait you have to accept. Hopefully the better hydrated story is very very true, and we're just much healthier.

I've been thinking about this for a while. I've already got some great skates, and an unnatural propensity toward violence (thank you older brothers)...time to find a place for Sass E. Frass, Roller Derby Queen...

Of course it isn't all the media's fault. The media does what works, and if thats telling teens and younger they aren't good looking enough, they'll keep doing it. Which will cause another generation of people looking for self esteem through plastic surgery, the things they own, or any other status symbol they can devise.
If more parents did tell their kids they're beautiful, the media tactics to make you feel inadequate wouldn't work, and it would have to adjust to what does work.

I'm all for cute, but that one strap ain't gonna do a thang if I'm doing cardio. I would, however, love a sports bra as functional as the classic design that is cuter. every one i see just shrinks the straps, which is NOT functional.
for now, i'll settle for being fabulous in my Social Workout shirt.

i like 2.0, you'll get used to it. i do still miss the way the blogs look, though - 2.0 is more mini update oriented i think.
also, re: stretching - the "data" keeps changing, it seems, so i stick with stretching feels amazing, and makes me feel healthier, therefore it must be good. and any class you get up for that early must be good!

@msh - i walked by NYU yesterday and felt very sad that it wasn't to see you.

I am witholding opinion on the coaching, since I don't know much anything about what its like to be a football player or coach, and think one of the problems of blanket "feminism" is the idea that anything can be the same for both sexes without any real knowledge or experience with the anything in question (oh wait, did i just support your point?).
Instead, I'm just going to applaud your vocabulary. I actually had to look up pederasty. Good job.
