Workout
d'oh!
I've been so busy I didn't m-log in a while! I guess we might have hit 1,000,000 sooner. Ah well.
I did some yoga for 35 min the other day after a long hiatus, and boy was I sore! It was nice that I could still hold most of the poses, but I definitely realized how much strength I've lost in just two months.
Workout
invalid challenge :(
Invalid Challenge error message or not, I still exercised, and that's all that really matters.
I rowed once for about 10 min, ran for 10 min, elliptical-ed for 35 min, and did two rounds of TRX for 20 min.
Workout
sleep > workouts, therefore...
no cardio today.
i logged 120 min of walking because i'm sure that in the span of 30 hours at work that i walked at least an hour and a half doing rounds and so on. i also walked to dinner downtown later on. i guess that's it's own workout, but since it's not "official" we'll just say i had one workout. i got home from work early (5:30!) so i thought i'd do a long cardio and TRX.
I just did 120 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout
kitty = work
i had all intents of working out today since it was my first day off in 12 days. unfortunately, i got bogged down with laundry, finding a drycleaner, and going to target and ended up not actually exercising. i did, however, carry a bag of drycleaning and a curtain rod all over the place.
I just did 60 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout
residency is a workout
especially when your hospital has 8 floors and you avoid the elevators. i decided since i'm short on both time and energy that trips of four floors or less would generally involve the stairs. i think i'm about 75% compliant with this.
no worries, i hardly ever get to sit down.

1st apt gym use
I am super busy getting situated in my new apartment and getting oriented at my new job, but I just couldn't handle not working out anymore. It was one thing when we were moving ourselves and all of our crap and when we were on vacation, but now I have no excuse. I haven't exercised for days, so I decided to take a break from the chaos of my apartment and study for ACLS on the elliptical.
Workout
i missed you SW!
Well, I am now moved out of Philly and down to DC! I also went on a really lovely vacation that involved a lot of physical activity. I tried to backlog some of it but probably missed a few hundred minutes here and there.
I don't think it's really necessary to log each day as its own workout, so here are some highlights of what kept me so active in the past week:
Workout
rowing fun!
I had to do a very short workout because i spent most of my day packing. I realized at 1 pm that I had to be at the massage place by 3, so I opted for a short burst of rowing
Workout
there are still some good samaritans in philly
I lost my blackberry last week in the target parking lot (NOOO). I was obviously not happy about this, and I promptly used my insurance to get a replacement. Randomly over the weekend, I got a phone call (at 1 a.m.) from someone who said they found my phone in a busy intersection and that they'd bring it back for me.
Workout
trx and a sunny walk
took a break from packing to go outside and hook my TRX to one of the trees in my complex. i did 2 sets of each:
squats (plyo, regular, and single leg) in sets of 5 each. my legs are DEAD from dancing last night!
sprinter's starts: 10 per leg
power pulls 12 per arm
bicep curls - 15
tricep extensions - 15
standing roll outs - 8
swimmer's pulls - 12

it's a little awkward--i have a friend from college who blogs about her FATshonista clothing selections. while i want to be supportive of her being able to find cute clothes (we should all be able to do that, at least), it's frustrating as a medical provider to hear her flat out reject healthy living. it's gotten to the point that she will not go to a doctor who comments on her weight. REALLY? i mean, that's kind of negligent in light of above mentioned data on all the bad things fat does.
i'm not saying you need to be a supermodel. lord knows i'm not. the point is to work towards fitness. i agree with you 100% because i, too used to be a fatty (and i hated every moment of it because i just didnt' feel well)
/rant.

I've taken that class! It's a lot of fun, but be careful if you're clumsy like me. I got tangled up at first and fell out of my hammock. Once you get situated, it's really awesome!

yeah, i almost don't think of them as suburbs because they're so lush...and i'm just accustomed to the urban sprawl of fairfax county, VA

nothing like someone who knows how to work out trigger points. the physiology on that is so neat to me! to think one little point can get overly irritated and contribute to the entire muscle being too tense makes sense, but is easy to forget! glad you got some relief today :)

i'm so glad someone else noticed this! i bought some nutella to make a dessert a couple months ago, and the back of the jar states that nutella is part of a healthy, balanced breakfast (that consisted of toast, orange juice, and bread). HELLO sugar! where's the protein? oh, right, a small cup of skim milk. sure, that makes up for it all.
and then my mind just hearkened back to that old bill cosby skit on "chocolate cake for breakfast."

it makes me sad, too!
someone should tell him running bumps up his "good" cholesterol.
besides, why would you *ever* want to stop running???

it's not really counterproductive as long as you aren't overwhelmed by trying to achieve the goal.
honestly, i think your current balance state is what i'm always striving for! i get to it, and sometimes get derailed and self-flagellate for eating something i shouldn't. or for not running quite as fast as i wanted. i'm kind of like you and am constantly pushing, so i think it's just a matter of keeping yourself in check and realizing that you're already doing a lot of good for yourself by living a healthy lifestyle :)

just to check...machine based cardio doesn't count? so, if i use an indoor rower, that doesn't count? what about ellipticals?
does a TRX count?
and what about swimming?
sorry to bug you guys! :-p

lol above at sandy!
msh, i am so glad you opened a forum on this topic! i, too, feel kind of trapped when people start having these discussions, and i definitely agree about the whole morality aspect.
i get so much grief when i go home over my preference for more natural eating, for my belief that you should be able to eat how you want and not feel like a bad person for it. it's especially difficult when people in my family have lost weight in really unnatural ways (dietary supplements, missing meals, doing everything you shouldn't do). they look at me and say, "Well you wouldn't still be overweight if you'd join us on fad diet x or supplement plan y." the thing is, i lost 40 lbs by just switching from bad food to more "natural" food (fruits/veggies/whole grains, etc)
on the other hand, i still catch myself self-flagellating over how i was "Bad" today. i'm so glad you brought this up to help me put things back in perspective!
