Workout
Summer slack-off ends NOW.
I've basically been slacking all summer. Eating too much, drinking too much, lying on the beach too much -- even when I wasn't on vacation.
Well, I went to my first yoga class today in, like, two and a half months. It hurt a bit, but it feels good now.
I'm signed up for three more next week.
First one is the worst, right?
4 Days. 16 hours of yoga. One very sore, but happy!, hktexan
So, my workouts were derailed by something I like to call Project Wedding Cake, but I got back on track in one fell swoop at the Asia Yoga Conference, which ended today.
This started Friday, but I'm just now catching up on all my minute-logging. Is there a way to change the date?
I just did 120 more minutes of Yoga, Meditation, Chanting!
I just did 240 more minutes of Yoga, Meditation, Chanting!
I just did 360 more minutes of Yoga, Meditation, Chanting!

Today, I put on pants that did not fit six months ago
And by "did not fit" I mean "couldn't pull them all the way up to my waist even though they fit quite well when I bought them."
So today, unable to find anything else in my closet that was suitable to wear in public, I pulled out these old pants I once loved. These pants I haven't been able to wear for almost a year now.
I put them on. And they were a little loose.
Workout
Warrior before Airplanes.
I'm leaving for the airport in 20 minutes -- getting out of town for Lunar New Year, like everyone else -- so just a quick post.
On a day when I'm leaving town, I managed to pack AND work in a 90-minute yoga class. Now I'm feeling all relaxed and zen for the plane. It does a BODY good.
Happy New Year, everyone.
Workout
I could get used to this candlelight yoga thing
On my second energy sabbatical day, I took a long walk around the neighborhood (which sucked, honestly, since the humidity was around 95 percent yesterday), then came home and pulled out the yoga mat.
It wasn't long -- maybe 15-20 minutes -- but it felt good to stretch.

Workout
Kicking it up a notch
I spent an extra 15 minutes on the elliptical today -- 50 instead of 35, and spent a large chunk of that time doing intervals.
I also used the gym's video-borrowing service for the first time. It's amazing how an episode of "Mad Men" will keep me working out longer than my Lady Gaga mix. Well, maybe not "Mad Men." Am I the only one who is bored by this show?
Two more to go!
Workout
Aches and pains.
Just 35 minutes on the elliptical after work.
I didn't go too hard -- the dress shoes I wore to the office shredded my heels, in the same spot my gym shoes rub. I called it quits after 2.5 miles.
Also, I seem to have hurt my knee somehow. It hurt going backward on the elliptical.
Getting old at 27, it seems.
Only 3 workouts to go!
Workout
I have spaghetti legs
40 minutes on the elliptical, then a quick run down the hill to the yoga studio for my Saturday yin/restorative class.
I didn't want it to end after an hour. And I feel all loose and open now.
Time for a nap.
Workout
Hands, wrists, arms, shoulders
35 minutes on my living room floor with my yoga mat and a DVD.
Dolphin is killer, but in a good way. I totally need to spend more time with it.
Workout
Abs. On. Fire.
Honestly, I didn't think 10 minutes and 42 seconds would hurt so much. I did a Pilates video at home this morning, since I don't want to haul my gym bag (and its sweaty contents) to a Haiti benefit I'm going to tonight after work.
I can get behind these 10-minute workouts.
Workout
Ellipticals: The cure for boredom
This morning, I was bored. So I went to the gym.

The vagueness totally freaks me out. I'm a Type A. I need a detailed outline.
Then again, I came up with a DIY for the New Year's Edition. I can do this.
Hmmm... I'm throwing a dinner party next week that I have been planning for weeks. "Belly" is totally covered. Only three to go...

Recipes for bread. Good bread. And probably pasta, too. Shauna also has lots of recources for those with celiac.
And, in a way, *knowing* is good news. It's not life-threatening. And making such a drastic change isn't easy, but you will feel better once you do.
Also, I'm totally self-conscious at the gym. Always. But I keep going, too. It's what we do.

This isn't showing up in my NYE Challenge count for some reason. Is anyone else having that issue? I want to say I have marked off THREE feats before the last day!

Me, too, kornflowers! I'll only be able to check off 2 (sugar-free and energy sabbatical) before the last day. I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually. :)

Also, grilled, with a splash of lemon juice at the end. So. Good.

*sigh* No bathtub. I don't think any friends have bathtubs, either (they're as rare as ovens in Hong Kong apartments...).

10,000 steps is about 5 miles. Think you walked 10? (You did a lot of walking!)
Also, the placement of the pedometer really matters. It should be directly over your knee. Check it by pressing reset, and counting out 50 steps. If it reads 48-50 steps, it's good to go.

Charity D., it's a Sportline "Wlaking Advantage" pedometer. I got it because it's what my mom uses, and she wears one daily. (And she's tried a lot.) It took some time to set up, but I think it works pretty well.

Sounds lovely. Sadly, I don't have a bathtub in my tiny apartment. *Sigh*

When I did this a few years ago, I actually put the TV in my closet. (Couldn't be tempted to turn it on that way.) When I did my Goodwill sort a few months later, the TV was still there. Haven't owned one since.
(I *do* watch several things on the computer, though.)

I'm also planning to run a half-marathon this year -- but not until December. I'm still just walking for now, but the running part starts soon. Eek!
