My friends and I went out for and end-of-the-semester last hurrah before we depart for foreign lands next semester. For some of us, it will be the last time we get to be together for a year! We went to my FAVORITE Indian restaurant and I ate WAY too much. But I couldn't help it...it was so good!

i'm tired of coming up with titles for my mundane workouts
30 minutes (2.5) miles on the elliptical in reverse mode followed by 20 minutes or so of ab work. bam.
naughty backflog
over the weekend i ate an average of two cookies a day (gluten, soy & dairy free!) and an untold amount of cookie dough on saturday while making the aforementioned cookies.
yesterday, i ate three cookies.
no regrets. 'tis the season, afterall.

35 minutes on the elliptical (5 minutes forward, 2 in reverse) for 2.9 miles. followed by 20 or so minutes of abdominal work.
sun salutations and grand pliés almost go without saying at this point.

"meh" monday.
I talked myself into going to the gym today. The 35 minutes out with the dog just didn't feel like enough of a workout to qualify a post -- we were both kind of sluggish. So, this afternoon I did 30 minutes on the elliptical (hill mode, cascades!) managing just over 2.5 miles, and finished off with some abs.
Not bad for a cloudy afternoon!

got up and ventured into the sub-arctic weather of western mass to go to the gym. i did rough 30 minutes on the elliptical with the resistance up super high. it was hard but fun! and not to jarring first thing in the morning.

suprisingly frostbite free!
Walked for approx 2 hours outside today. The first hour was a moderately paced campus tour, the second a speedy jaunt about the neighborhood with the dog. Not bad considering I slept in instead of going to the gym this morning. I'll be doing my advent grande pliées later for tone-age.

This morning, my sun salutations were snow salutations! The campus is covered in at least 4 incehs of powder. It makes me want to curl up in bed and skip class. But when I saw that my cubby-mate was up and dressed for the gym, I was shammed into heading over there myself.

I woke up this morning and immediately groaned. The backs of my thighs seem to have shrunk overnight -- perhapse running on the incline yesterday? I really wish I could get a yoga class into my schedule. Maybe I'll find one abroad next semester? At anyrate, I need to get into a stretching routine.
30 minutes on the elliptical at level 8 to work the quads, 30 minutes weights & abs

over thanksgiving i fell in love with the combo of kale & garlic sauteed in olive oil. so. good.
in general, though, my favorites are:pancakes, apple crisp, rice & beans, pasta, and guacamole

in retrospect, i think the sweating was mostly due to the fact that i kept my sweats on over my shorts out of laziness.

Larabars are absolutely delicious. A great portable snack, especially for traveling. I always hate getting stuck with gas station and airport food. These actually fill me up and, of course, taste great!
Plus, they're raw, vegan and gluten free -- can't beat that.

Love spinning. I took a bunch of classes this summer, but they don't offer it at my college (or anywhere near by). It makes me so sad!
That's good to know about the treadmill, though. I guess we'll have to get back together eventually. Sigh.

How about something similar to the No Late-Night Snacking feat from the Eat.Sweat.Blog? Something like, "Leave the cookies for Santa" where you can't snack on any sweet treats after 9pm

Sort of like the vegan dish proposal: Bring gluten-free cookies to a cookie-swap. Tell no one.
Invent an original and healthy holiday drink inspired by one of the classics (eggnog, hot chocolate, etc) and post the recipe.
Naughty-list flog: keep a flog of all the unhealthy holiday treats you consume during the challenge. Knowing that I'll be exposing my gluttony to the world really helps me practice moderation.

It depends. If it's air-popped without butter, margerine or oil -- yes! if it's from a movie-theater or bag, smothered in some sort of liquid -- no.
On it's own, popcorn is delicious, high volume and full of fiber. It's definitely a favorite snack for me.

I like the sound of the Ballet Strength workout. Is it really effective? Even though I make it to the gym several times a week, I still feel out of shape because I'm not dancing this semester. Grr

I'm in college, so I can definitely relate to the awkwardness of eating healthy / staying on the wagon in big groups or at parties. It's worth it, though
