Workout
500 miles! (Not really.)
i would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the one who walks 500 miles
And falls down on the floor.*
Okay, I didn't fall down on the floor. But I DID do 40 minutes on the stairmill (up from my usual 30) and then another 15 on the bike.
Workout
Boot Camp, Baby!
Did my first boot camp today. My friend Michelle met this Australian chick in Fort Greene Park who "looked serious" (maybe it was the aviators and the head-to-toe spandex) and told her about the group fitness classes she's just starting up in the park. So we went this morning at 9 a.m. (a very civilized hour!) and did stretching, kicking/lunging/etc.
Workout
Spinning Around My Head
Place:
New York Sports Club - 76th and 1st Ave.
Workout
Back in the Saddle
Literally. I fiiiinally made it back to the gym after a slothful period of, oh, about nine days. "Too cold" is such a great excuse, especially when you've got The Wire on DVD and plenty of Raisin Bran Crunch in the house.
But Monday morning, I made it out to Spin class at 6:30 a.m. Now if only I can keep it up...
Place:
New York Sports Club - Boerum Hill
Workout
Spin, Span, Spun
Nothing special this morning, just a decent Spin class.
Oh! But I did try the "windshield wiper" ab move afterward.
And I realized, happily, that my calves are a little sore from Zumba-ing the other day.
Spinning, 45 minutes. Abs, 5 minutes. (I should probably take an abs class, huh?)
Place:
New York Sports Club - Boerum Hill
Workout
Zumba! Wooh!
In keeping with my new resolve to vary my workouts and try new things, I checked out a Zumba class with two friends last night at New York Sports Club's Wall Street location. WTS is Zumba, you say? It's basically an aerobics-dance class with a lot of rump-shakin' set to Latin music. In a word: HARD.
Place:
New York Sports Club - Morris Park
Workout
Workout Disaster!
Is there anything worse than not having music for your workout? I seriously don't understand the TV watchers. I need the beat! And so when I found myself with a dead iPod and a seriously wonky Slacker Radio app (my new absolute favorite thing to listen to at the gym), I considered (literally) throwing in the towel.
Place:
New York Sports Club - Boerum Hill
Workout
Schizo Cardio
This morning was: 15 minutes on the Stairmaster, then 20 on the stairmill at level 9 (heart-pumping!), then another 15 on the recumbent bike. Sometimes you just gotta move around. Shoulda stayed on the stairmill longer though. That thing is no joke.
Place:
New York Sports Club - Boerum Hill
Workout
Good Job Guys. That Was Hard.
Why is it so easy to drag oneself to Spin class at 6:30 in the mornings sometimes, and so hard other times? I always feel better after a good workout in the morning.
Day 1 of the New Year's Challenge (amusingly beginning January 11) is off to a good start!
Spinning with Lisa (who played Green Day!), 45 minutes.

New York Sports Club - Boerum Hill

Question: I can't log in to the 2.0 with my 1.0 username (which is not an email)...why?

Agreed. You look a little less like you wet your pants in black pants.

TRUE! I can't really read on the elliptical, either, unless the resistance is high, and even then, it's a little disorienting. I probably favor the stairmill so much because you CAN read on it. When else am I going to have time to get my Entertainment Weekly fix?

How is it that Denise Austin looks exactly the same as she did 18 years ago, when I would get up at 5:30 a.m. to do her TV workouts before high school? I call Botox.

Ha! Maybe I should have counted my one-minute high-stepping in the icy Atlantic in Coney Island as my first Social Workout workout!
