Smoothie 6: Zucchini, Raspberry, and Mint
This is so tart and refreshing! Unpeeled pieces of zucchini, frozen raspberries, and a handful of fresh mint from the windowsill. Add a cup of fresh water to make it a drink and not an interesting relish. On a gray, cold day like today, this really wakes things up! (Escpecially if you're doing No Caffeine.)
If you're not doing Unsweetened, a little agave would be delicious!
BrightRaw: Dinner!
The grand finale:
Wide ribbons of zucchini with thin slices of yellow and red bell pepper, chiffonade of basil with raw pine nuts, salt, and a generous squeeze of lemon. And for dessert, the champagne of mangoes.
It's been a pleasure.
Also, I did give Tom the dog a piece of mango. He carried it around before leaving it unceremoniously in the hallway.
BrightRaw: Snacks
So, I stayed up until 4 am nursing these snacks along in the oven. I would turn the oven on, turn it off when it reached 105 degrees, and turn it on again in an hour. It was so worth it. They are salty and punchy and really rounding out the corners on raw food day. My favorite part is eating the nut yeast that has glommed together with nama shoyu on the baking pan. Died! Gone to heaven!
BrightRaw: Lunch
Sushi: Nori, arugula sprouts, yellow bell pepper and avocado.
Salad: Carrot, yellow bell pepper, and raw sesame seeds with a dressing made of nama shoyu, lime, ginger, garlic.
This was so crunchy and textured that I *almost* didn't miss the rice. Those arugula sprouts were kind of gritty, which was strange because I assumed they were grown hydroponically.
Dessert was a purple plum.
BrightRaw: Breakfast
I'm no raw food menu planning genius, so this is an admittedly strange breakfast. But! It has 3 colors, is raw, unsweetened, non-dairy, and decaf. I also had a big glass of water. I know that you're slightly dehydrated when you wake up, but I had no idea how good a glass of water could taste first thing in the morning!
SWeAT Chocolate Biceps: Dark Night of the Soul
Okay, so I've been working for a couple of hours to get my oven to 105 degrees for raw food dehydration. It is not easy. I suspect I will be up all night tending to this very low heat. (Will the bulb in the oven keep it hot enough? I was kind of hoping that plus the residual heat would do it.)
Apprehension and Progress
I've got everything I need for Raw Food Day tomorrow, my cabinets are emptied of everything and waiting for a scrub, and since I can't have coffee, milk, refined sugar, and will be eating an array of colors, I think it's the perfect day to take on some of the harder challenges. Tonight, my oven will be at 105 degrees, full of kale and almonds.

I may be part hamster
I love the elliptical. I run and run and think about all kinds of stuff. I have to remember to not sing out loud.
I'm also walking Tom the Dog for 2 miles in a minute, but we may have to stroll a little longer. It's gorgeous today!

Jelly Legs
Busy day. I have to remember that this challenge is not my primary job, and while I may like it, I can't really spend 2 1/2 hours exercising every day or blogging or planning the ultimate raw food day or whatevs. But today it was fun, and my legs have been challenged into submission.
Workout
HIIT makes me want to die
I could only make it 10 minutes. Burpees for 30 seconds, jumping jacks for 30 seconds, mountain climbers for 30 seconds, rest 30 seconds, and repeat. My feet hurt. My lungs still hurt. I don't have this kind of power.
I'll try again on Saturday. For now, I'm just going to lie on the floor.
Oh, I also walked my maniac dog in gale force winds.

Freezing my buns off
I had a very brisk half-hour walk with Tom the dog because it was freaking 55 degrees yesterday!
Then, I put in 45 minutes on the elliptical at the gym and nearly froze on my walk to the grocery store afterwards. Being all sweaty has its disadvantages when it's chilly, and I was trying to hurry home to cook dinner. My heart rate monitor said I burned 700 calories! Not too shabby.
The user hasn't yet posted any reviews.
This looks so great! I'll definitely try it. I love, love, love blackeyed peas.

Lots of folks are doing decaf, no moo, just water, unsweetened starting today and tomorrow. That's 4 feats you could join in on! (Be prepared - decaf and just water are doozies!)

Salt? That's the sticky point. I may have to follow andrealc23 rules, except I can find local butter, so I won't use oil. Also, I think coffee is cheeeeea-ting.

Mmmmm, radishes! I'm working on local day, too, but I'm worried about salt. Not sure I can find local salt around here...

My god, I have 20 chapters of manuscript to edit before Monday, or I'm pretty sure I'm up shit's creek, and here I am commenting on your entry instead of working, even though I drank an entire pot of coffee just so that I could stay awake and work. Argh. What is the deal? I hope the virus is contagious.

Yes! It not only counts, but it should be its own feat. Bicycles were made for intoxication! What a lovely evening...

Sometimes I'm more tired after cleaning my house than after working out! First, it takes 6 hours to get everything done, and then it's a lot of lifting and bending. I pulled my back vacuuming once! Housework is no joke!

My back and abdomen are still sore from my twist-heavy yoga class on Thursday! They are fun, though.

I'm going to a wedding on Oct 24th and have been online shopping for a million hours. I hate the mall, but I'm going to look at Nordstrom's now (maybe I'll be lucky, too?). I hope you had a blast at the wedding!

You are a rock star! I bet she felt great and proud of herself for getting on track. The answer is never in our own heads, dwelling on our own dissatisfaction. I'm very happy for you!

That's terrible! I hate doctors like that! We go to see doctors when we're in pain and need help and don't feel well, and they make us feel worse. I hope you catch a break soon.

Yes, raw. It's unbelievably good! I really let it blend. Of course, my entire mouth was purple, so I advise at least a piece of gum before any meetings (or even trips to the ladies room). I'm from the South, so it's impossible not to smile at people when I pass them. Then I started laughing because I realized I must have looked insane, and then, everyone wanted to know what was so funny... ah, the hilarity of beets.

No, it tasted like a blended up graham cracker, sort of. It's raw wheat germ, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I only put 1 tablespoon because I was worried about the texture. Give it a whirl! The worst thing that happens is that you dump it down the sink and write an interesting post on the grossness of wheat germ.

Maybe it could a new fight style, like Urban Tap, where you tap your opponent into submission, also with punching or some fancy kick-moves. I'd take a class!
Posted in response to: I believe tap dancing counts.
