Hula Hoop & Cantaloupe do not rhyme
I was just googling Hula Hoop and stumbled upon a rhyming site. Ok, maybe it's my west coast "accent" coming through, but I've got to respectfully disagree with one of their suggestions. There's no way that cantaloupe & Hula Hoop rhyme.
Workout
10K "Race"
I ran the Swedish Summer Run 10K this morning. I actually hate this run, as the course is super difficult. Of the 6.2 miles a good 2.5 is up a pretty steep incline (for those in Seattle the "switchbacks" in the woods between Montlake & Capitol Hill and then the steep incline to get the rest of the way up CH).
Workout
Almost. But not quite.
Walked a couple of miles around the (greater) neighborhood this afternoon. It is so muggy in Seattle right now that I just didn't have a run in me.
In addition, I did 21 push ups and juggled for 45 seconds. I'm close on the juggling. I just need a little more practice.
Workout
Gym. Again.
Did 30 minutes on the treadmill (3.5 miles, 330 cals.) and then moved on to the weights.
Managed to do 3 weight assisted chin ups with only 16lbs as the assist. Still can't do a "real" chin up, but I'm getting close. Hopefully by the end of the summer. I then upped the weight to 40lbs on the assist and did 12 more.
Workout
Jumping Rope
Jumped for about 20 minutes on my back yard patio. The 8 year old neighbor girl even joined me. Hit the 1 minute 5 crosses challenge the first try and then was doing all my jump rope tricks of 25 years ago. It's amazing how I haven't forgotten.
That was a fun workout!
Workout
Mile run & situps: Success!
Went for a 4 mile run this am. While running the first mile (and feeling good) I decided that for mile 2 I'd try to run it in under 8:15 to finish the mile run feat. I managed a 7:12 minute mile. I'll take it! I would like to see what I can do for one mile flat out on a track. Perhaps later this week after work.
Here are the stats for my run:
Mile 1: 8:47
Mile 2: 7:12
Mile 3: 9:02
Workout
Chin-ups: Denied
Hit the gym this morning and completed 30 minutes on the elliptical. Managed to go 3.6 miles and burn 350 calories.
I also did 35 reps on the leg press with 120#. Next time I'll increase the weight a little.
