Workout
june 18 - pilates
got home late after 13 hours out of the house. wanted to flop on the couch to relax but did my pilates/physique 57/weights. and actually feel better for it.
Workout
june 17 - tv on the elliptical
45 minutes of incline, 400 calories, 1 episode of house.
Workout
june 15 - more running
45 minutes, intervals, 3 miles, 400 calories.
Workout
june 14 - abs fabs
did ab focus today - physique 57, situps, booty pop dancing, situps, pilates, and more situps. oof!
Workout
june 13 - morning run
got up - quick 30 min on the elliptical on intervals. 3 miles, 400 calories. lots of sweat!
Workout
june 10 - too many situps
physique 57 exercises, weights, and situps. lots of situps. too many situps? probably not, but i sure am sore.
Workout
june 11 - lonely workouts in LA
i'm jealous of all you nyc people, knowing each other and getting together for parties and stuff. whatever.
Workout
june 9 - i am so angry i want to run
had an awful awful horrific morning at work that filled me with justified anger and frustration. immediately after, i realized i was calculating how long it would be until i could get on the elliptical and work out some of my anger. it made for a good hard run with almost 500 calories burned, and i do feel more relaxed and less totally consumed by rage.
Workout
june 8 - i will keep this up i really will
slacked a bit over the weekend after getting stuck at work all day on saturday and then being cross about it and slacker-y all day on sunday.
so tempted to just skip today, too, since there's not any challenge that i will or won't make! but i mustered up the motivation and did my physique 57 and weights. so yay me.
Workout
june 6 - first thing in the morning
didn't have any time to exercise yesterday, so jumped up first thing to get on the elliptical. i was feeling a little slow and sludgy so didn't do a super intense session - just short of 3 miles, 30 minutes, with some hills - but worked up a good sweat and got loosened up for the day.

it's like you're inside my head! earlier today i realized that my morning workout was 26, so i could theoretically sit down and eat things for the next two days solid. but i'd already decided that didn't feel right, no matter how appealing it sounded. i had a great breakthrough yesterday realizing that i could still exercise without giving it 120% every single time, and that a day of exercise at 75% still felt a lot better than sitting on the couch, even when i was feeling tired and sore. i am feeling a bit beat up after 26 days, so i may exercise at 75% the next couple of days, instead of taking the days off. and that feels like a victory to me!

it's a dvd, supposed to be the warmup and fitness workout that the ballet dancers do. it did assume a fair amount of ballet knowledge, including what the foot positions are ("move your feet to fifth position" with no other explanation). part of my problem was total inability to do ballet-esque arms, with no instruction given.

there's also a TERRIFYING introduction from sarah jessica parker not looking her best.

here's my recollection from climbing as a kid - "on belay?" is a question, "belay on!" is the answer. either way, belay is the rope that's clipped to your harness, running through an anchor up top, and being held/monitored by someone on the ground, who makes sure there's not too much slack in the rope, so if you fall, you don't fall far. as someone who has fallen from rocks hundreds of feet above the ground, belay is fantastic and essential! :)
i imagine that the arm stress is largely due to relying too much on your arms, rather than legs and core, to climb. be careful that you're not sticking your butt out - it feels instinctual but makes it a lot harder on the arms.
i love climbing - perhaps this will inspire me to go bouldering or find an indoor gym near me!

your challenge, should you wish to accept it, is to pick 2 (two) physique57 moves to do every day that you do a workout. pick from the moves here: http://www.marieclaire.com/health-fitness/news/articles/easy-exercise-moves
good luck!

moving can be rough - I always discover muscles I hadn't realized I'd been using. it totally counts!

it's never too late to get started! i also find that if i mess up once, i try to use it to justify slacking in the future. good luck with may!

that's great advice - i think i was really trying to push myself too hard with the cardio. today i did try to hit that middle level and it was much less of a drag than it sometimes in. i'm just so into efficiency i want to do it as hard as possible!! :)
