Invest in Salsa Don't let plummeting Dow or blizzard get you down. For a mere $90, you can sign up for a four class "semester" at Sandra Cameron Dance Center, which is a brightly lit oasis of NYC social dancing. People will smile at you regardless of your net worth, and you'll find the challenge, and awkwardness, and warmth of the thing very healing.
Salsa with Jose Just catching up around here, on my workout posts AND on my salsa classes. Monday was the first class in two weeks. It wasn't high impact, and Jose fell back into his nasty habit of demo-ing the move about 1,000 times before letting us try. But it was dancing, and very good for my heart and soul.
Salsa Mondays Back on again with Jose Rosario at Sandra Cameron. My salsa skills progress more slowly than a snail in winter, but they progress.
Spiral turn, wrap, and spin.... The end of our January "semester," and I feel some progress. Jose shook my hand on his way out and I said, "We're getting better!" and He said, "A lot better!" That does not mean we're "good," but there is progress.
Salsa Mondays This week we learned a spiral double spin for the ladies, and I did some more work on the wrap with back up.... I was sniffling, and hope i didn't give anyone else my cold. Went straight home.
Salsa with Jose Brilliant evening. Salsa Sundays paid off, as I knew my moves. Jose let us dance more, and during the open session I danced with one of the regulars who was very good and we had great fun.
Salsa Mondays Redux Made it to class EARLY. Life suddenly on schedule given new diet. Danced with new Australian named Kirsten, and also again with Carla. Made some progress, but still the guy in the mirror looked like an awkward, tall, white guy in jeans.... FLOG: Bfast: Water D&D granola with raisins, walnuts and cinammon. Banana. Lunch:
Salsa Monday, October Class Three This time, no Gaby; and I missed the warm up, plus some, but I made it. Stuck around to dance a few during the social hour, and got to dance with an amazing woman. She led at a times, and I was happy for it. Count it.
Salsa Mondays, First Class of October Monday nights I take Jose's advanced salsa class at Sandra Cameron. I count it as a workout, because it's more than an hour dedicated to mind and body. And sometimes I do break a sweat. I'm blogging retrospectively now, so won't attempt to say what we learned on that first Monday of the month, but I was glad to be there. After I'm pretty sure I grabbed a fish taco at La Esquina with Gaby.
Trash Talking and Salsa with Jose I'm so going to CRUSH this Feats of Summer Challenge. Make no mistake, those feats were dredged in large part from my subconscious. I will Moonwalk like a Michael Jackson, and spot turn, and run a mile fast and do 10 chinups.
