Ab Sculpting Pilates At the beginning of every year I start working out feverishly... mid-summer I stop, fall passes, winter begins... and repeat. Time to get serious. Day 1: Pilates
Sunday Night Workout I had another bad week last week. Work is killing me. Have I mentioned that there is a woman in my office who is literally losing her hair from stress? In any event, I didn't have any time to workout until yesterday. Got in 40 HARD minutes on the Elliptical. Felt somewhat better, though not completely, as a result.
Captain Crankypants Gets Back Down on the Mat I have GOT to get a new career. There, I said it. This a.m., my husband finally convinced me to get back down on the mat for twenty minutes to deal with the stress of where I sit right now in terms of work. It was mostly child's pose and down dog, but that didn't matter. I had twenty minutes by myself in a room with a closed door, and that felt pretty darn good.
Short and Sweet 30 minutes on the elliptical pre-dinner party. Didn't help the stress, but it did help me justify dessert. :)
Yogaglo at Home 60 minutes of restorative practice with Elena Brower. Yum. Yum. Yum.
sure it was a workout, especially for my liver some things i remember from this weekend:
Hardcore Inversion Practice Used to be back in the day that I could hold a handstand for 60 seconds without going into extreme muscle fatigue/shaking/potential broken nose position. Not so much anymore. But perhaps with an Advanced Inversion practice on Yogaglo, I will be back there sometime soon.
Forward Bends and Twists with assists (kisses, snuggles, general puja building with dog toys) courtesy of our French bulldog puppy. So sweet. 60 minutes on Yogaglo. Noah Maze. Theme that anywhere is your home when you reside in alignment in your body. Yup.
Yogaglo is Changing My Life! Seriously, the ability to do an amazing, hard Anusara practice whenever and wherever and of whatever length I can manage to fit in at the time is nothing short of pure genius. And I'm now on my third consecutive day of major asana practice for the first time in a looong time. Delicious, delightful, delovely.
where the hell have you been???? No- not having lots of vigorous sex regardless of posting 24 hours of said just now. Rather... MOVING!!!!!! Up to the 5th floor in a walk up to be exact. And yes, I will be chronicling how great my ass will look in just a months time.
Husband Sleeps While Wife Does Yoga Got home from work a little early yesterday (shocker of shockers) and clocked 75 minutes on the mat with Elena Brower via Yogaglo. Mr. Joesgirl, who planned to read while I practiced, instead found Elena's voice so soothing that he promptly conked out on the sofa.
Starting to Move, Keeping It Going I've been doing about 3-4 workouts a week recently and I'm starting to step it up a notch. Today I did a 5 minute warm up and 30 minute weight circuit 1 exercise per body part. Then hopped on a bike for 25 minutes and walked the dog to cool down.
Early morning run Despite a late night last night, I got up first thing this morning and shuffled downstairs to the treadmill. Was having a hard time with the run and then Glitter in the Air happened to arrive on the shuffle. I was imagining Von Hottie swinging from silks a year from now and suddenly running seemed much easier. A good inspiration!
And here comes the wall ... Wasn't feeling up to running, or swimming, or biking, OR leaving my apartment last night but I KNEW I had to do something. Insert Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown DVD. Better than nothing, right?
Social Workout Made Me Do It Confession: I REALLY did not want to work out today. I came home and Mr. Joesgirl was napping on the couch with our two dogs and it was sooooo inviting . . . but alas, there is the commitment of Feats of Summer 2.0 (via SW 2.0), and the promise of thirty minutes a day for an entire month.
Yoga at Home Tough day at work but I managed to get home and get on the mat for 45 minutes courtesy of Elena Brower on Yogaglo. I'm beginning to think my best combination is two days at the gym, one day of yoga, rinse and repeat. Also, I had the sensation today that I finally found the back of my heart on downdog for the first time in two years. So grounding. I'm happy. :)
i left my house! Das Boot has returned, El Splinte is gone, the stitches are history. Still not really walking, although I pushed it and tried to. But I still need the crutches. Made it all of about 6 blocks away from home, and it didn't even involve a doctor visit! It did involve a lot of drinking, which I'm currently recovering from. That is all. Happy weekend!
Back Down on the Mat After a few days off, the husband and I did a sick 60 minute yoga practice on Yogaglo with Noah Maze. Felt really good and we laughed through the whole thing, plus our dogs assisted in savasana. :)
no more push ups I told my doctor the workout I had been doing this week. "Um, NO. You should not be doing that. Nothing but weights for your arms." I hate weights. Until CJ or Laura brings me a Shake Weight.
