Sun Salutes

The first few minutes after waking up are a precious time. Yes, you can dive into the shower, throw on your clothes, and suck down some coffee; but you'd be missing something. A moment to wake your limbs, to ease your mind from dream to day. This feat is back by popular demand from our Emergency Holiday Challenge, and to complete it, you must: Start every day with five sun salutations. If you're new to this kind of thing, see diagram at left, or look here. Sun salutations stretch the whole body and get the blood moving, and they're very satisfying to do.

day 3 of sun salutations -
discovered yesterday that there were nicely illustrated instructions in the yoga over 50 book i'd unpacked last week. so yesterday went a little bit better.
this morning, during the second salute, i was wondering how i'd ever figure out how to get from the cobra to the downward facing dog. then, during round 3, it just happened!! i did it!! it was miraculous!!

I did this one during the Emergency Holiday Challenge and LOVED it. My form is much much better than when I started, and with the push-ups and crunches from the 1000s plus some stretching, this is becoming a nice mini-workout to start every day. And warming up with this is helping me get into a full workout most days. Love.

Loved this one. Woke me up and got me moving like I never would have imagined (I am so not a morning person). This is one feat I am definitely going to try to continue after the challenge.
