Look. That boiled cauliflower is calling your name. The hot flame-grilled steak, the sizzling bowl of buttery steamed string beans. And don't forget the gooey rice pudding, served with a side of warmed whipped cream. Wait! This is the raw challenge. You must put down all cooked foods. Just for the day. Give your digestive system a rest. Nibble essene bread, lettuce wraps, almond wafers, raw oatmeal, and tons of avocado instead. Or go to Thekitchn.com to get some other recipe ideas. You can also treat yourself to a meal at Pure Food And Wine. Eat only un-cooked, un-processed and organic—it'll be RAWsome.

Today was my first day in this competition and I decided to make it a raw day.

Kombucha for breakfast.

Lunch was a red pepper soup. It was very delicious if I do say so myself. I needed to use up some beautiful red peppers before they wouldn't have been so beautiful. So I decided to blend them in the Vitamix with almonds, coconut water, filtered water, onion, cilantro and a pinch of salt. It was totally raw, room temperature and delicious.

Dinner, since I was lazy, was from Bonobos on 23rd & Madison. I got the nutmeat salad and succumbed to temptation by my favorite dessert - Coconut Chai.

banana, almonds....apple, almonds.....pear, almonds.....almonds......lettuce, avocado, carrots, raisins, almonds.....grapes and you guessed it almonds!

Next time (which probably won't be a next time) this feat requires more planning/shopping....or more almonds!
