Feat
Plant Friendly

Acquire a plant. Water it. Talk to it. Watch it grow. Your new plant may be large or small, purchased or transported from the wild. To complete the feat, you must simply add some green to your home, and it must survive the challenge — though we do hope it will be the start of a beautiful relationship....

Can the plant go in my cubicle at work? I'm afraid my cats will nom on it if I keep it at home.

I like this one - our place is sadly lacking in greenery now the Christmas tree has gone. Will try and find something tomorrow!
Submitted by CakeOrDeath on 01.09.10 at 02:02.
I guess getting a silk plant and talking to that wouldn't count?
Submitted by kornflowers on 01.10.10 at 09:31.
I have 3 cats and many plants. I recommend a ficus plant. They are easy plants to take care of. As long as they have good lighting and they are watered regularly they will thrive forever!

I just killed a bamboo shoot thing, and also a botanical. My goldfish Frankie just died also. Awesome.
Perhaps I'll get a cactus.

I have bamboo in my living room and kitchen. I have 2 leafy green plants, probably native to the rainforest, in my living room and bathroom. I talk to them and water them and they keep growing. I think they might take over my apartment.

I love bamboo! Do you have any tips for growing it indoors? How tall are your bamboo plants? I know that some varieties can get extremely tall. Do you have a shorter variety, or do you just keep pinching them back?

I have a combination pot with a variagated vinca and English Ivy on my computer desk.
Both of these are transplants from our yard. I'm hoping to have good indoor plants from them to help with the air quality. If they work, then I'll be getting more from the yard.
In addition to these, I also have a couple of jade plants in the bathroom

Just got a little bonsai plant. Looks mighty small next to our mature orchid. Amazing the difference just a bt of green can do to the apartment!

Bought my little guy yesterday. I am a little afraid I might kill it.

I have a plant at work and a bunch of plants at home so I went ahead and added a few more and then gave the ones I already had some extra attention. Love this feat! It makes such a big difference.

I can't keep plants in my house--my daughter's cats get into them, knock them over, etc. But I keep and maintain a large outside garden of plants and flowers and veggies. Does this count?
Submitted by volcane09 on 01.15.10 at 05:20.
my kids and I bought an indoor tomato plant. The girls have named it "squirt" - I hope it survives. I don't have a good track record with plants. Although my 8 yo lets it listen to her ipod, so the plant has that going for it. Not sure how much the plant enjoys the daily hugs though.
Submitted by deannajo on 01.16.10 at 01:37.
instead of buying a new plant, I cleaned up my old plants by giving them a shower to get of the dust and repotted a few. They look happy and shiny now.

deannajo - i love your post. it made me laugh :-)

my husband says if I bring another plant in our house there won't be any room for people. I think I beat this feat.

To put an end to stress and mcp exam dis-ease we must begin the earnest exploration of the frontier that lies within. To find true joy and contentment, we acknowledge and serve the wisdom of our spiritual core by learning to steward the power of our a+ training thoughts, desires and emotions. American Meditation is a roadmap for this inward journey. American Meditation is a program of holistic practices and time-honored techniques to improve mental, emotional and physical well being. The only two requirements for network+ training benefiting from its use are your own personal determination and earnestness.

I just bought a fern, her name is Fran!
Submitted by Llaves on 01.23.10 at 05:08.
I'm going to go ahead and check this one off now, because I have the plant and it's doing well. It's on the window sill in my bathroom, which gets great light, and is the kind of vine-y plant that falls over the edge of the sill. It makes me happy to see it every morning, and it's thriving, so I think it's safe to say it will live throughout the challenge.

Instead of a plant, I got an Aerogarden! It's totally awesome. I'm watching my Romaine and basil grow as we speak! Also, I've been extra nice to the three plants in my apartment, that thankfully, have not died since I got them over summer.
Submitted by maya622 on 02.02.10 at 11:20.
I want one of those Aerogardens. I think they would be wonderful to have.
My plants have survived.

First time ever that I've managed to keep a bonsai alive ^_^
Submitted by runleenarun on 02.12.10 at 07:47.
Although the blooms on my Hyacinth died a long time ago, the plant is still green. I'm going to buy another plant for work, and let the hyacinth die so I can plant the bulb in my garden and hope to see it bloom again!
Submitted by gleam on 02.12.10 at 10:12.
Still kickin'!
Submitted by tigertailamy on 02.12.10 at 10:46.
I went from 0-4 plants this challenge and they have changed my life. I say hello to them and touch them, I water them, I worry about them, and it is so wonderful to have another living thing in my apartment. :-)
