Downward Lovin' Dog
Midway through a recent yoga class at Equinox MePa, Tevis Rose pushed the class to go deep into a runner's lunge. "Imagine that the molecules in your kneecap have a secret to tell the molecules in your mat," she said. A moment later, having pondered this, she added: "And I bet they do."
Rose likes to call sun salutations "sun sals," and pushes her students through "downward loving dogs," and "juicy" twists. Her soundtrack veers from Public Enemy to sanksrit chanting, and she often begins class by sharing a quote or a story that's been on her mind. Sometimes I want to scream at the excess of personality, but Rose has a few saving graces: she's smart, confident, and she pushes her classes hard.
