Pity party of one still made it to Ride the Zone In the hierarchy of my female friendships, Sass is my mistress but we both have pre-existing long-term relationships with our "wives." Went for a fun, gosspy lunch with my wife yesterday, only she breaks the news that she and her husband are moving back to San Francisco, and this time they are definitely not returning to New York. Heartbreak. After Yoga Vida class, go for dinner with two friends. They tell me they're moving to Indiana. I drink too much wine and stay up too late (but when have I ever drunk just enough wine and come home early when I hang out with them?). Reserve Ride the Zone bike at 1:30 am. Inappropriately update every social network status I have. In bed, throw a pity party of one. Sleep four terrible and tipsy hours. Wake up an hour and fifteen minutes before my alarm goes off. Hate life, hate life, hate life. Resolve to still go to Ride the Zone class because sometimes Kaitlyn has too much wine and she still makes it to RTZ to "honor her commitment to herself." Decide Grown-Ass Women go to the Church of Marion and pray she'll save them from themselves.
Blonde Moments in Fitness Kaitlyn said if I made it to Marion's class at Ride the Zone every Tuesday I was in town for the rest of the summer, she would give me a big prize. So of course I was there, at exactly 9am, without the aid of Kaitlyn or Sass, thank you very much. Now for today's Blonde Moment in Fitness: A few weeks ago, I bought fancy spin shoes and I was so excited to try them out this morning. The class had just started when I arrived, but I couldn't figure out the buckle release thingy to get it on my foot. Total coordination meltdown. So I threw down the $3 to rent a pair of spin shoes rather than waste 10 minutes on the shoe, or worse, walk in barefoot, waving a spin shoe around, shrieking over Beyoncé, "Excuse me! Can anyone unbuckle my shoe?"
Workout Song of the Summer: Rock Your Body by the Black Eyed Peas(my prediction) plus SW buzz at RTZ in East Hampton There was so much excitement today at RTZ in East Hampton! I arrived about 30 minutes early with coffee to catch up with L and M.K. before Marion's 10:30 Cyko Zone. We were all a buzz because Marion added a surprise restorative yoga class following her 10:30, downstairs with Jessica Bellafatto. Hip openers immediately after Cyko Zone--brilliant; I was thrilled to participate.
Hangovers in the Hamptons didn't stop us from Riding the Zone! Sass & I shared a house in East Hampton this weekend with Mo-rizzle and a bunch of people, and somehow talked them into doing Ride the Zone East Hampton with Marion on Sunday morning.
c'mon and dance right now..... After a great warm up, Marion blasted " c'mon and dance right now" racing out of the saddle... which lit the spin room up with fluorescent energy. We raced intensly right into "California Girls" on a building climb. From there we climbed a big hill to "Airplane". And then the upper body stuff began: switch backs(holding deep to reach into lats and obliques) then 50 arm pulses on each arm.
Awesome Friday Ride 9:30-10:20: cyko zone at RTZ with Marion:
On Fire! Cyko Zone: Marion at RTZ: 9:30-10:15: her energy is so high! We climbed a lot but we mostly raced in and out if the saddle. We took it out of our comfort zone and raced until our heart rates jumped out of our throats! Marion was on fire today. Fantastic workout!!
Summer is around the corner! A great weekend in East Hampton! The imminent summer energy was high at Ride the Zone. We're turning the corner! Marion's 9:30 cyko zone was as she describes: "on the insane side of things". We raced up a hill while adding resistance nine times. Yes, nine excrutiating times. I am so excited for Ride the Zone, they have so many exciting things happening.
Racing, scheduling, and ugh.... Spring is busy. I have a lot on my plate and it seems that I've been taking consecutive Cyko Zone classes at RTZ. They are awesome! High on speedwork which is good for me. However, I'm not just racing on the bike; my life is a race(for now). I just have to keep breathing through each interval of my professional and personal speed work. It's a good exercise on being mindful.
Who needed her hand held? On Friday, Von and Sass joined me at RTZ for Marion's 9:30 class. I the discussions leading up to Von's big debut at RTZ, I promised to hold her hand and shared in advance that Marion would be happy to hold her hand, as well. so much for the planning!
