Workout
performance in the park
Met CrossFit coach in the park today for a workout-of-the-day. We carried a bar and some 10# plates a few blocks to the park, because we are still gymless. Warmed up with a lap, 2 sets of 10 pushups, pullups, back extensions, situps, lunges, squats. Then did a bunch of form work on cleans before the WOD.
Workout
nap and lift
Feat count: 12
(FEAT of SUMMER in this workout: early wake-ups)
Workout
back to doubles
Summer of fun '09 just about over. Pre-season in full effect. Hello, double sessions.
Last night: practice at Randall's Island.
Full contact, a lot of just playing. Humid. Sluggish.
This morning: CrossFit on the street.
Warm-up with a lap of the block, dynamic stretch, push-up walkout sequence.
Form work on split jerks, worked to 3 sets of 5 with 88#.
Workout
studio apt lift
My teammate has a studio apartment. There's not much furniture in there, but she does have a weight bench and a rowing machine. So yesterday we worked out in her apartment -- a little crowded, but we did fine: deadlifts, front squats, rows, bench press, overhead press.
Workout
Back to the Gym
Finally made it back to the gym today for some light weight lifting and elliptical. Back is still stiff, so I had trouble on leg extension and couldn't even do calf extension because I couldn't straighten my legs while seated. But I hit all my major upper body muscles, and will probably do a little hula hooping in a bit to engage my core a little.
Workout
3rd x 6:30, Weight Lifting and Massage
This morning I woke up for the 3rd day in a row, shockingly, at 6:30, and Michelle and I made our way to the gym where I went through my typical weightlifting routine. My shoulders and elbows were pretty much useless from yesterday, so I'll probably try those again tomorrow if I have time, but the squats went pretty well given that I'd done spin and yoga the day before.
Workout
Six by Six-thirty, Plus Tubmling
Oh, God, are we seriously going to do this challenge? Day one we managed to drag ourselves out of bed at 6:15 in order to get to the gym for Michelle to take the very first Cardio Sculpt class of the day while I did my strong lifts routine. It's all kind of a blur, but I'm pretty sure I survived.
But wait, there's more:
Workout
total
Feat count: 10
This morning at CrossFit we did "CrossFit Total." That's where you try to PR in three attempts each at back squat, press, and deadlift. Here were my best numbers:
Squat: 245# (I will beat this by a lot next time I try) PR
Press: 90# (sad trombone sound . . . )
Deadlift: 290# (woot woot, twice body weight!) PR
Workout
gym class, mile run
Feat count: 10 + 2/3
(FEAT of SUMMER in this workout: timed mile)
In the morning, long train ride to Bronx to tutor my mentee in Geography. Which is tough, when you realize he has never looked at a world map and doesn't know vocab like coastline and boundary. But fear not, we made some flashcards and will conquer the globe soon enough.
