On Bridges, Bikes, and Mini Golf
Morning run on the Brooklyn Bridge. Sunny and 36 degrees today. Looking south from here you can see Governors Island. The island is closed now, but will open for visitors on May 30th. A hint of what's to come: The Governors Island Blog wrote yesterday that plans are afoot to make the island a "car free bike oasis." (Free bikes! They've got them in the Netherlands, and they've got them at Google HQ. Why not NYC?) Meanwhile, cool arts non-profit Figment is taking submissions from artists who wish to contribute a hole to the Island's mini golf course. The mini course, an act of Burning Man style public art, was a big hit in its first year, and will be expanded from nine to 18 holes. File all this under social workouts to come.
