• Who: Taylor and Phillipe Wells, the founders of Prana Power Yoga
• What: Six hours of daily yoga, local food, massage and reiki, raw food workshops, and workshops on topics like "deliberate creation." Optional "Cleanse on Demand" juice cleanse for the duration of the retreat.
• When: February 19-26, 2010
• Where: Sayulita, Mexico, with accommodations at the Haramara Retreat
• Why: Six hours of daily yoga! Plus come February, you'll need a trip to a Pacific fishing village, Sayulita is reportedly gorgeous, and I have friends who swear by Taylor and Phillipe.

Yoga at the Mandarin Oriental in Mexico

• Who: In-house yoga teachers at the Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya
• What: Pricier and more commercial than huts on the beach with your local yoga teacher, but the four-day weekend wellness retreat at the Mandarin Oriental in Mexico has a certain luxury appeal. The package includes morning and evening yoga classes, spa meals, daily guided meditation, a diet and nutrition class, use of the spa's sauna and pool, and a spa treatment, plus, of course, a room at the hotel.
• When: June 24 - 27, 2010 with other weekends through October
• Where: Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Do Yoga and Learn Spanish in the Mountains of Mexico

• What: Forget yoga/surf retreats. Yoga/language immersion is where it's at. Wake up in your adobe cabaña in the mountains above San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, proceed to an hour of mind-priming morning yoga followed by three hours of level 1 Spanish instruction. Then comes spa time. Repeat for seven days.

I just left Ek Balam. It was a brief and sweet romance exploring astounding magical Mayan ruins, visiting a super cool ranch with tons of chickens and fruit trees, swimming in the cenotes, eating local wild honey, and connecting to great people from around the globe. Yes, I even had a kick ass and truly mexican margarita made by my new favorite friend German (pronounced Herrrrmahn). And now, I've just arrived at a place called Organic Yoga Mexico right outside of Akumal. There's no food served here which I wasn't really prepared for...

Wonder How a Mexican Yoga Retreat Makes You Feel?

Last week, I lead an awesome CorePrana yoga & pilates retreat in Tulum with co-teacher Jordanna Dworkin. This week, I've landed at a little oasis called Genesis Retreat in Ek Balam, right outside of the Yucatan's oldest city, Valladolid. I'm in a room called the "birdhouse." It's a small second story cabana style room with a queen size 'floating' bed suspended from all four corners. Pretty cool.
