may 29 - back in it
after taking a bit of a restful workout yesterday, i woke up this morning raring to get back in it and pounded out 45 minutes of hard intervals on the elliptical. was drenched in sweat and feeling great throughout!

may 28 - exercise as self-care
i knew i had to get a workout in today, but when i got home from work, i was feeling very beat up, both mentally and physically. i realized that most of my workouts lately have been efforts to push myself really hard, as if it doesn't count unless it hurts. i'm trying to go longer and faster on the elliptical, to really feel that muscle burn on the 40th rep of that physique 57 move.

physique 57 and pilates and sit ups. buuuurn.

may 26 - routine elliptical
i'm thrilled that 40 minutes of intervals on the elliptical, the wicked sweat, the feeling of exertion - it's now a routine, thanks to the habits i'm building in the challenges. hurrah!

may 25 - bbq peril
had people over to bbq today (thus the cleaned apartment from yesterday) and totally ate too much food. delicious fresh food. yum.
didn't feel like it at all, but once i started my pilates/yoga weights session (about 50 min), i appreciated it. feel more relaxed and calm than woozy/drowsy!

may 24 - spring cleaning
sometimes i schedule parties just so i'm motivated to clean my apartment. i invited people over for memorial day, so i spent the day cleaning and moving furniture and painting an outdoor table and scrubbing all of the surfaces in my kitchen. exhilarating - i certainly worked up a good sweat and used some muscles dragging the couch around.

may 23 - tv on the lliptical
for a change, decided to watch a tv episode on my ipod instead of listening to music while doing my 35 minutes of intervals on the elliptical. i was surprised by how helpful it was at being engrossing and keeping me occupied instead of staring at the "time remaining" and willing it to go faster.

may 21 - walking and sprinting in salt lake
before my plane home, got in another walk, about 3.5 miles or so. salt lake was very boring to walk around! i was carrying my bag stuffed with conference materials, too, which weighted about 20 pounds. (literally.)

may 20 - hotel room workout
after conference and before dinner, had a little over an hour in the hotel room. desperately wanted to take a nap but instead did my physique57 exercises. it required some adaptation - used full water bottles instead of hand weights, also used a water bottle instead of a playground ball for one of the ab exercises. but got them all done and felt well exercised.

may 19 - walking in salt lake
in salt lake city for a business trip. took a break from the conference to go for a long walk, probably about 3.5 miles.
