Feats of Summer Day 17 - Thoughts about Mortality, Flexibility and Working Under the Gun!

I realized that my posts were boring and repetitive...this is my attempt to change that.

One day after an intense session the Dobbins and I were dreaming about the races we were going to run and I got to thinking aloud and I said "What will we do when we phyiscally can't do this anymore?"

Day 13

Rode to/from work, dragging just a little bit. Tuesday night drinking is not conducive to morning exercise. Hauled ass back to Brooklyn just in time for Jivamukti yoga class at Greenhouse. Teacher was a bit loopy, class was definitely harder than most I've taken lately. Lots of binding and balancing - I had to remind my body I used to do this and could again with a little practice.

Feats of Summer Day 16 - The Kettlebell Hurricane

This morning I work up particularly sore but determined to get in and work out. Taj laid down the gauntlet of a flat stomach by the end of July and I am determined to shut him up. I know it's a recurring theme but I like the hurricane workouts because they are challenging and timed. If I want to I can count reps and try to beat that rep count on the next set.

Feats of Summer Day 15 - Workout 2

My session with Mike was killer. We started out strength training. 3 sets of pullups and explosive pushups. 3 sets of Abs. 3 sets clean and press. Finishing it off with deadlifts. After that we came upstairs and we did some speed drills. During the drill he showed me how to be quicker by eliminating steps when I change direction. He was happy with how quickly I am picking things up.

Feats of Summer Day 15 - Workout 1 "There was no workout 2 yesterday!"

I decided to ease back into this week. Besides we were really busy at work last night. This morning I ran a mile and mixed the ever popular hurricane with Crossfits "Fight gone bad" . Each rep is a point and you add that to the total calories burned on the row.

2x 30lb Thrusters Set 1 - 24 Set 2 - 26
70lb Deadlift High Pull Set 1 - 24 Set 2 - 25

Day 11

Finally, a nice weekday! Rode my bike to/from work (that Queensborough bridge is a challenge unto itself, especially when you're fixed gear). Tried to be mindful of my eating and ending the grazing streak that predominated the holiday weekend. Did an intermediate vinyasa class in the evening and surprised myself at how long/well I held crow pose.

This morning after 2 days of letting my body relax it was back to working out.

2 mile run. Time - 18m 23s
2x Hurricane - do each exercise for 1 minute
Jump rope
Bench Jump
MB Crunch
Pushups - Push up feat completed
Squat Thrust
Run 400m
