What ab muscles? Plank, personal hell.

Today was an indoor day, started with strength training then cardio.

Started with Challenge # 12 - Plank personal, I remember doing this way back when, but I hadn't done it in a while.Here goes, at 30 secs I think I'm going to pass out, no way am I going to report back with a 30 sec time.

Dance It Off

Strictly Come Dancing The Hit of P.E.

Brit adults, eager to help their kids avoid a life of atrophying muslces and beer-soaked banter at corner pub, have deployed the Cha Cha. It's true:  Stars from the British television show Strictly Come Dancing (the British equivalent of So You Think You Can Dance) have teamed up with the government to inject ballroom dancing into P.E. class.

There was more to this workout when I planned it...

but I plum tuckered out after the second Kettlebell set... Day 2 - Run 5K with 1/4 and 1/2 mile intervals. Time - 28:15 x3 10 Figure 8's 1 minute Jumping jacks 12 Crossover Stepups x3 10 Touching Pushups 30 second Mountain Climbers 15 Jump Squats x2 10 Kettlebell squat and snatch 1 minute swings

Day One -

Modified Crossfit Workout - Pushups were substituted for Pullups. The situps and Timed Planks were added. I had my first taste of Creatine. I used the Dotfit NO7Rage and the effects were immediate.

50 thrusters, 75 situps
50 Pushups, Timed Plank - 46secs

35 thrusters, 50 situps
35 pushups, Timed Plank - 50secs

20 thrusters, 25 situps
20 pushups, no timed plank

1st of 50

So this is my first official post for the feats of summer challenge as well as my introduction into the sw world.

Went bike riding around downtown for an hour thanks to Bike around downtown, it was quite thrilling as I haven't rode a bike since I was about 13. It did rain, but it was still a lot of fun. The staff at Bike and Roll, were quite nice and helpful.

Sleep More, Run Faster

Think it might be a struggle to achieve your Feats of Summer? Tip: Sleep up. So suggests the New York Times, citing a recent study of Stanford tennis players, (a study to which we're particularly receptive today)....

For two to three weeks, the athletes maintained their regular schedules, sleeping and working out as usual. They took part in sprinting and hitting drills to measure their performance. Then the players were told to extend their sleep to 10 hours a night for five to six weeks. After increasing sleep, the athletes performed better on all the drills. Sprinting drill times dropped on average to 17.56 seconds from 19.12 seconds. Hitting accuracy, measured by valid serves, improved to 15.61 serves, up from 12.6 serves.

Sounds good right?  Until you reread and notice the ten hours a night for six weeks part. Crikey! Still, a night or two of ten hours is worth a try. Here's hoping I can sleep my way into achieving a chinup this summer!

Tough decisions, although the swimming and biking ones are a definite, and I'll crank out a mile despite hating running. The rest are going to take some practice, but that's the point right?
