Tough Morning Bike Commute? Get the BOND Bike
Cars and truck cutting it a little too close? Cue the handlebar flame thrower. Crazy pot holes to maneuver? Cue the caterpillar track wheel. Bike thieves? Employ the ejector seat! Britain's Environmental Transportation Association (which sells bike insurance) conducted a survey of riders' concerns, and then they built a bike to address them. You can't actually purchase the bike...yet. But you can take a look in person at the Cycle Show in London next week. Meanwhile, check out the BOND Bike video after the jump (via Outside)

Add Some Caffeine To Your Morning Ride
I would bike to work, you say, but then when would I drink my coffee? Social Workout's esteemed engineer Micah has that problem all worked out. Behold: The bike coffee holder, or as it's properly called, "The Morning Rush Coffee Holder Kit." $39.99 and you too could be sipping and riding. Micah gives it a big thumbs up. Though, after risking death one morning with an improper mug, he vigorously recommends heading the kit's warning that "mug holder ring only to be used with accompanying commuter mug. Using other devices or cups will lead to spillage and possible serious accidents."

A good ride
About 12 miles of riding into the city and back for a meeting. Good to be back on the bike after missing so many days last week. Going to ride in again tomorrow for multiple stops. Must stay warm.

It's over. It's just begun.
Another ride in. Over the manhattan bridge I see clearly that I am OK with whatever will happen today. Sunny, clear, 30's.

Considering my choices
Beginning to process that the end is approaching at work, I ride in and consider my options. I spend the day with a few close colleagues designing the possible future at work. It's a hail mary play, an exploration. Are there any viable options for me there? Would I even have the heart to pursue them? Will the choice be taken out of my hands?

Ride to the bakery!
With bad news in my pocket--that my head is on the chopping block in the coming round of layoffs--I ride the long way to work. Up the west side bike path to the 40's, over to Sullivan Street Bakery to buy a big stack of pastries for the crew at work who are reeling from the first dismissals, then to work. Those sticky buns may have negated the extra couple of miles added to the route.

Starting the week nervous
Rode to work again today. Nice that this is becoming routine. The high 30's weather is wonderful for riding. Nervous ride in though, worrying about upcoming layoffs at work.

Warm ride today
35 degrees this morning! Insulated jacket was too warm. Sweating like a pig by the time I got to work. 45 degrees on the way home: rode in a windbreaker. Much better.

Short commute
Rode in to the financial district, then home again.
