How do you workout while on vacation?
Is walking in a discovering-a-new-city way considered a workout? (It isn't exactly heart rate elevating brisk or power walking.
Going to Shanghai next week and I'm staying with a friend who does not workout. What am I going to do for my workout days??
Ideas?

i'd say do a lot of sight-seeing (shanghai is an AMAZING city) and if you really feel like you need to do more, take 20 minutes to do some abs, lunges, squats, push-ups and such at your friends place. enjoy your time!!!

running, even if it's just a quick one in the morning, is a cool alt-sightseeing tour-- bonus in non-western countries where you look completely nuts running about (though not such a big deal in sophisticated Shanghai, I would imagine).

china is so dang polluted i would not recommend running outside (i spent a year in beijing and developed respiratory problems just with day-to-day activity outside). and, yes, you would look completely nuts haha. you could however join the old people in the parks and do tai chi with them!!!

Burpees! You can do them in the tiniest of spaces, they're a great full body workout, and if you do them for time you get your heart rate up too. Try doing 100 for time - it's a great workout, quick, and requires no equipment and little space. Enjoy your trip!
